Meal Replacement Shakes?

Anyone ever use a Meal Replacement Shake? I am trying GNC's Total Lean shakes... storing them in my fridge at work... the problem I have been having is that I'm so super busy at work, that I don't eat... then at the end of the day, I EAT EVERYTHING, especially junk! My question, is that if I use the meal replacement shakes throughout the day, and then eat a great, healthy dinner... I'm getting only 800-900 calories... is this ok? I am wanting to drop a few pounds and get rid of my sugar cravings... MFP says I should be getting 1200 calories daily... I'm constantly under goal because of the shakes... but I'm definitely not feeling hungry anymore... I'm using three shakes daily, plus a good dinner... any thoughts????

You're going to find it hard to sustain that few calories long term. Also, you aren't making changes that will last a life time. Do you plan to use the shakes for the rest of your life? A shake a day to supplement your diet is ok. I hope so as I do one a day to supplement my protien. But to use them to replace two meals. I'd be worried. Can you find a way to get a food-based breakfast in and use the shake for lunch only?0

I've done a lot of research (and contrary to MFP) the body needs only about 800 calories/day to sustain a healthy diet. The starvation mode is a myth, it really is only a slowing of your metabolism not completely stopping altogether. As long as you eat 800 or more calories you will be quite fine.
I've included this for those people who decide to yell about my thoughts.:
