okay so heres the story. i used to be anorexic so i had to gain weight. and indeed i did but now i have gained way too much. and i hate myself more than i did when i was a miserable anorexic....

i have been gaining at a rate of 7lbs a month, so 3kgs. i want to loose about 8kgs (16lbs) as this will take me down to my original target weight. i had lost 3lbs. and it had been sustained for a week or so. but since monday i have gained back those 3 lbs.

so while i was originally here to gain now i want to loose. the fact is i dont even eat enough to gain this weight. thats what i don't get.

so i need as much help as possible because i havent ever had to do this. i dont know how to do it and stay healthy, so can someone please help me :/

just to clarify do you want to be your "original goal weight" of when you were gaining to overcome hour eating disorder? Or did you want to reach the goal weight that you had when you were anorexic? Either way, perhaps you should try to convert your settings to maintenance calories for now, and possibly seek some treatment for your body dysmorphia, I know how it feels to live life hating the only body you have, maybe professional help can help you love you. It definitely helped me

what is your healthy goal weight? do you mind sharing your current weight?

I looked at your diary and I understand why you are confused. I'd recommend seeing your doctor, showing your doctor your diary, and having them explain how metabolism works for someone while in recovery from anorexia. I am a biologist by profession, and all that I can tell you is that it would be best to have a medical professional oversee your case.

your food intake is great for recovery - you are doing so well, but you want to repair your body to a point where you can eat 1200 calories without gaining.

I am having a similarly confusing situation at the moment... gaining at 1300 cals, which is 500 cals beneath my maintenance weight. Perhaps I have been under-eating for years without realising it.

good luck! add me if you want. perhaps we can both find out why our bodies are behaving confusingly.

Absolutely! Your general person on MFP isn't going to have much in the way of useful advice because your body will be doing all sorts of odd things due to the recovery. Have a look around for some useful *recovery* websites (avoid pro-ana websites like the plague!!) Try http://www.something-fishy.org/ and you can ask experts on http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/information-resources/general-information.php

Good luck on your journey and make sure you get expert help - this isn't one you can solve alone!

it sounds as though anorexia has a lot in common with general anxiety disorders - I understand what you mean about getting distressed about getting weighed, and feeling crazy for it. For a while last year I became extremely distressed about driving on less than 6 hours sleep (weirdly specific, I know), going to work, and buying groceries. haha. it sounds so insane to say it, but it happened. i was really scared by the idea, but i ended up seeing a doctor about how bad it was, and ended up seeing a psychologist. this was an amazing help for me because it helped me to figure out why i had such a cripplingly anxious response to such everyday activities, and helped me to start doing them again, step by step.

i recently talked to my doctor about why i was gaining weight so quickly, and she was kind enough to ask if i wanted to be weighed. something you could try at the beginning of the appointment is to tell the doctor that you do not yet feel comfortable getting weighed. your particular case is related to how quickly you are gaining, so if you tell them the same information that you told us, the doctor should be able to give some advice regarding weight gain and metabolism during recovery without needing to know your exact weight. if you have an understanding and helpful doctor, make a follow up appointment for 2 weeks time or so. if the doctor is not receptive to your request right at the beginning of the appointment, leave and seek someone else. emotional trauma regarding weight is not going to help you right now, so it is important that they listen to your needs.

    good luck! keep in touch.
