Have you changed the way you eat certain foods?

Have any of you changed the way you eat a food since joining MFP, deciding to get more healthy, fit, etc?

I was thinking about this last night as I ate my baked potato. Before, I would only eat the inside (usually smothered in butter and sour cream, or cheese and bacon, etc.) Now I eat the whole thing. Not only because the skin holds good nutrients, but because I feel like I need to eat it ALL in order to get the best bang for my buck so I won't be hungry later!

Just curious if there's any similar situations.

  • Absolutely, now i look at it as *i can have mayo on that sandwich, or for less calories i can have mustard on the sandwich and a yogurt for afters*

I changed my diet before MFP but its helping me see advantages of staying with it.

Biggest change is lunchtime. Rarely eat sandwich or any white bread anymore.
Usually eat a tasty salad with chicken/fish/ beans/avocado, or soup.

Definitely eat more veggies. I used to think I ate 5-a-day, but reality is I ate miniscule portions which hardly made one-a-day.
  • Definitely. I usually cook spaghetti with meat balls or bolognese. To add some variation to our pasta night, I sometimes prepare carbonara.

Last Sunday evening, I prepared pasta topped with olive oil, basil, lots of tomatoes, mushroom, garlic, spinach and onion. I stock my fridge now with romaine lettuce, cucumber, ripe mangoes, banana, and other fruits in season. In short, I am now choosing healthy foods over the nasty ones that we used to have.
  • Totally! I've changed the way I look at ALL food. Some of it is just not worth the calorie expense or the feeling of hunger immediately following consumption.

Yes. When I have certain meats I don't use steak sauce anymore (sodium and sugar).

I have given up sour cream entirely, realizing a plain baked potato isn't that bad ... NO butter on it either.

I don't put mayo on sandwiches anymore, even light mayo. I am used to it dry so to speak.

I use spritzer salad dressing, not thick ones you pour on. I loved hidden valley ranch but wow do the calories and sugar add up. Most sprays I use are the vinaigrette kinds. Yummy!

I have given up flavored yogurts (sugar and calories) also bye-bye yogurts with fruit in them and I have gone to plain Greek.

I have made a lottttt of changes. Sometimes it sucks, but I have survived so far.

I pretty much avoid things that I think are "not worth it" in terms of what the calorie count is for what you get. Chips and sugary drinks have pretty much been eliminated.

But I still eat all the foods that I have always enjoyed for the most part.

    I just eat less.

Before MFP I enjoyed nutrient dense food anyhow. But WAY TOO MUCH!

Yes, I have veggies with almost every meal. I hate them so I have to scarf them down as quickly as possible first, but they fill me up and I'm getting nutrients and fiber. Before counting calories I couldn't be bothered to touch a veggie.
