< Triglycerides while dieting but eating protein?

I need to get my cholesterol down, especially my ldl, and my triglycerides down as well. I want to get fit in the process which I am working on. I have been told to eat a high protein diet with about 35% carbs. I am getting my protein from chicken, yogurt, whey protein, almonds, hummus, etc. Will this help me, assuming I am keeping my fat intake, and specifically my saturated fat low?
