Morning!
MM, sorry to hear about Alex. Hope he's mending soon.
Yesterday I had a bad, very bad Bikram class. I spent half of it sitting on my mat and crying. Dang. I was just really angry because I felt weak and everything hurt. I think I'm officially frustrated right now. I think I may have made the mistake of not listening to my body. I hadn't slept well, and didn't feel good, but I went anyway. :grumble:
Today is probably yoga at the gym. I haven't taken this instructor's class, but hear it's very stretchy. My Saturday morning class was good, but the instructor might as well have been whispering, which I find very frustrating. I don't think she needs to yell, but she does need to recognize that I'm twenty feet away, and she can't use her "soothing yoga voice for someone six inches away." I don't want to have to crane my neck around to look and see what she's doing. Also, she didn't name any of the poses, just described them, which made it worse. I don't know if I'll be back to that class.
Oooh. I think I'm cranky today. Must be being up so early (only two more weeks of this class! hooray!)
Non-cranky boogaloo.
Take care.:flowerforyou:

viviakay, there's nothing worse than doing something good for your body only to have your body tell you it might be too much. Hopefully a nice, relaxing yoga session will help to give you a good stretch and some peaceful time and help you get some good rest tonight.
I posted on this site a few minutes ago about being more accountable. Blew all my hard work, but decided that instead of getting discouraged, I'm going to get motivated instead.
My goals:
Back to clean living.
Staying within my calories.
No stress eating today.
Have a great day everyone.0 -
Good morning.
It's rainy and dark outside which makes me want to curl up in bed and sleep more, which I could use.
Alex is doing okay. He is eating and drinks through a straw on the left side of his mouth. He seems kind of out of it. I just keep thanking God because I know it could have been so much worse!
I don't know what kind of work out I am going to get in today. I have to clean the house. I am going to be babysitting a 11 month old boy about 3-4 times a week for awhile. I must be crazy! It will be good practice for me. I just hope I don't lose my mind. It will also be money for me which I haven't had in a really long time! So tomorrow I start. I have to clean today. My back seems to be feeling better after walking so much yesterday. I may try to get in some taebo later. No more turbo jam! I should start my push ups again too.
You ladies have a good day. Thanks for listening to me!

You know what feels deliciously good (bad)? When you go for a bike ride with someone who is very skinny - and they get tired before you do. Husband's friend joined us for our "bike to the store" bike ride. He is very competitive and really pushed himself up the last few hills to the store. He had to sit outside while I did my grocery shopping. I know that if he worked out every day for a few weeks, he could kick my butt, but it felt good.
Went to yoga yesterday as well. Going again today - presenting my teacher with a birthday present - a lovely yoga coffee table book. Walking this morning.
We are under a tornado watch this morning. Hopefully, all the storms will be over before I have to leave.
Happy Flappy Boogaloo!
Saw this quote today: "If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution."0 -
Viv, sorry to hear about the yoga experience...I know you must be frustrated!
Love that quote, Mary.
I did pretty well this weekend -- had a great workout yesterday and I met friends at a bar yesterday and only had a diet coke. Wooo hoooo! I think I'll make it through the month without drinking.
Today I'm heading to the office to watch the rough cuts of Whale Wars! I"ve seen the first few episodes and they are really, really good. Anyway, aiming for a workout after that.
Goals:
~ 45 minutes of cardio
~ Do more stretching, either a gentle yoga or 20 minutes before bed
~ Cook some fish to have for dinner and lunch this wee
~ Vitamins! And research vitamins...I never know what to be taking and I want to look into what will help my hair start growing again0 -
Hello, all! Mary, that's a great quote. And nice job on the bike ride. The only person I've had anything like that with is my husband, but it's not really a competition. He decided to start training to do the race with me in a month. I know he's a lot faster than me, but so far I have better endurance at running. The funny thing is that he only finishes a couple minutes slower than me now, and he walks and I don't. Oh well!
I've decided that I'm going to cut back on aerobics because it seems to be aggravating my knee/foot. I was going to go the gym and do elliptical, but I didn't have a chance to get my clothes together this morning (my cat peed on my gym bag - it didn't soak through, and I caught her doing it so it didn't sit, but still - gross). So I'm not sure what exercise I'll be doing today, other than my after-lunch walk in a few minutes.
Goals:
log my calories (yeah, I'm going to try and actually start doing that again for at least a few weeks)
not cross my legs when I sit because I think it's aggravating my knee
stay positive!
P.S. V, sorry about Bikram. I got so frustrated last night trying to do my pushups - I just couldn't believe that it was still so hard for me - so I know the feeling. Hope today's class is better!0 -
Update: after another of my patented three hour afternoon naps, I did a yoga journal podcast. I was really impressed. A lot of the other stuff I've found for free on iTunes is very low production values and (what seems to me) poor instruction. This one was really good. (quieting evening practice).
Although, I think spinal twists may be stalking me. My twisty mid-back muscles muscles are the only ones that are sore lately. (I'm having a little tenderness in my calves and shoulders from all the down dogs, but not exactly soreness.)
This was the first "yoga only" day that I really, really didn't want to do it. But, I did. :flowerforyou:0 -

Viv -- can I ask which one you did? I'm always looking because I'm on the road so much, and like you said they tend to be hit or miss.0
