Question about Dairy

The mother I babysit for is 40 years old and one of the most in shape women I have ever met. The other day, I was asking her for advice and she told me I would FOR SURE notice a change in my body if I gave up dairy. She said greek yogurt and yogurt in general is not as good as everyone makes it out to be. Should I really be giving up dairY? I have random pockets of fat I'm trying so desperately to get rid of, and this was her first offer of advice. She said sugar is a big one to watch too, which I usually don;t eat much sugar anyways. She said cake candy and cookies are literally like poison to your body with the type of sugar in them. Can anyone help me out with some of this advice? Good/bad? Thanks!!

I don't agree that all dairy is bad. Lots of yogurt is filled with sugar though, it's not all made the same, especially fruit flavored ones.

There is a WHOLE lot of controversy over the wisdom of eating dairy. If you're not sure, try eliminating it for a few weeks and see if you can tell the difference. Remember though, everybody's body is different. Hers is not yours.

On the subject of sugar however, from a purely medical standpoint sugar *is* poison. In Nature, sugar is bound to fiber and unless you are binging on fruit you are unlikely to suffer ill effects from consuming sugar in its natural form, ie, sugar that naturally occurs in your food. When sugar is isolated though, ie, used as a sweetener for other foods, it is highly inflammatory and becomes a major contributor to Type II diabetes and heart disease.
