Will adding strength training pull me out of plateau?

I have been in a plateau fluctuating between 170-175 pounds for about 3-4 weeks now. At the beginning of my weight loss I started out just walking a mile or two a few days a week...then I began going to the gym where I mainly used the elliptical trainer for an hour, gradually increasing the intensity to where now I'm at the highest level of 20. Occasionally I use the bike for an hour.
I went to the gym with my roommates last night and they pointed out new strength training machines I can use, that I tried. I did the leg extension, leg curl, seated calf raise, back extension, seated hip abduction, and abdominal crunch. I have decided not to weigh recently, but will doing this/having done this possibly pull me out of my plateau, since I changed up my workout to strength instead of all cardio? Thanks!

If you strength train you will drop more fat, but you will weight more (added muscle). So you will look awesome, and make every single girl jealous that you weigh more than them but look better/skinnier/fitter/stronger/healthier/etc.0
