I was wondering if anyone knew whether the nutritional information on the pasta box is for dry or cooked pasta? I made a bunch last night, weighed prior to cooking, and weighed again after - It was significantly heavier, obviously. I've always assumed it was for the dried weight of pasta. . Please, correct me if I'm wrong. . .

  • The 2 oz serving listed is for dry pasta. I just measure it before cooking.

Unless it says cooked, I would assume the weight is for uncooked.

Almost all packaged foods list the serving weight as packaged...so for pasta that would be the dry weight. When in doubt, look at the servings per box and the total weight of the box. That should always give you your answer.

On a side note, meat and poultry should always be weighed prior to cooking.
