Hi! The best advice I can give you is to stay away from caffeine and alcohol. Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Hope this helps!0

Hi I dont drink alcohol, but do drink a fair amount of coffee (work nights) as for fruit and veg, ive been told not to eat too much of certain types as they are no good for my thyroid, but wasnt told which ones :ohwell:0

Have you already been checked out by a medical provider as to whether you need meds? I'd suggest that first and then adding in some strength training to build muscle tissue in your body (and thereby your metabolism).0

I would do a lot of research on the internet. if you have been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and you know that is what is going on then you have to take control of your health. I have gone rounds with doctors over my health care and finally found that I am the best judge of what my body needs and does not need. I find it odd that someone would tell you that you can't eat certain fruits and veg but then not give you specifics but, I have had doctors do this to me time and time again so like I said you are your best advocate. Do lots of research and find what works best for you.0

I was diagnosed in 1994. Was on 200mg per day. Then in 1998 I had a routine test and the doc said my thyroid had corrected itself?????? I continued my life without thyroxine until 2001, when I went back and said I was tired, put more weight on etc......turns out my thyroid was underactive again......now I'm on 100mg but don't feel any different from before, yet blood levels normal according to docs......

Me too, I was on medication for a number of years but after I had what you could call a bad mix of medications I went to the ER with a blood cloat so I've been trying to change my life style to support increasing my metabolism naturally doing alot of research.
What I have found works for me, are lots of snackd throught the whole day and stepping away for three big meals a day.
I set up my mfp food dairy so that i have breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. I feel a bit like a hobbit, breakfast second breakfasts lol
Also eating something, ANYTHING as soon as I wake up usually helps I usually get two wall durning the day where I feel about ready to crash 11:05am and 2pm .
Trying to excersise at noon hour, either by going out for a walk, hitting the gym, or just go and up and down a few flights of stairs.
And definately constally drinking something, water preferablely but honestly I'm not picky as long as it is liquid and its available.
Avoid salt? I'm not sure why but this is what I was told and I've decreased it to under 1500mg per day.
I was fairly seriously underactive thyroid but my tests recently for my blood work have been getting better every month. Good luck feel free to add me0
