What do you mean function? Eating zero carbs would be very hard to do, and not recommended Most LCHF diets don't aim for zero, more like 20-100g/day. I eat about 25g a day and function better than ever.

Is that how you grew that kick *kitten* Mullett?

I recently cut out starchy carbs for a while, and I feel great! I still average around 100g of carbs a day, but they come from fruit, non-starchy veggies, low-fat dairy, and my protein sources. It's amazing exactly how MUCH you can eat when you're sticking to clean food; fruits, veggies, healthy fats, low-fat dairy, and lean sources of protein. I'm not hungry, I'm not cranky, and I have a lot of energy and am not sluggish and tired like I was when I was pounding back carbs on a daily basis. I absolutely won't argue that healthy grains and starches have their place in one's diet, but everyone's different, and you have to do what works best for you! :)
