Do we get to set our own goals? Or is it a standard 70 miles for the month?

Mhmm... btw does ur app work offline w/o GPS or data usage? Am looking for one to track my hikes in a neighbouring country - data roaming costs too much =X

You can turn data off but you will need GPS, I recommend you refresh your A-GPS data before you go so that it has the latest satellite information in the phone.

Stoopid question here - GPS doesn't require data usage?

I've got 2 apps in my phone that track distance via GPS: RunKeeper & MapMyHike. Mhmm... so I can actually use them while overseas w/o turning on even cell data?

Count me in for this challenge though I'll have to estimate the distance I walked today to-and-fro from work!

That is right, GPS uses satellites for positioning so no data usage required. The only thing I would recommend though is getting an app to update your A-GPS data if you are planning to be offline for a while. This will store the approximate location of the satellites so it is easier for the phone to get a signal lock.

Count me in. I use pedometer pro on the iPhone. I tend to walk 3 miles a day at 3.5mph with the dog but there are days that my wife will do it to encourage my laziness so this challenge would be great. Great idea!

hows everyone doing so far? couldnt find a group for this. 10km for the month so far here. perhaps as people are using different app's to track we all just update here to show our progress? also curious to know if others are doing walking, running or both

hey all i will create a group in the next few hours and ill send all of you an invite. it will be called 'the miles club'

i managed 2.6 miles yestarday. hopeing for more today and you can track milkes however you like,
pedometer, phone apps, machines as long as its recordable and not guess work.
with pedometers only record the actual walking or running you do not the every day steps :)

Well I have no idea how many I walk/jog on a regular monthly basis so for right now I'm going to strive for 50.
