I just signed up, hope this helps. I'm looking for support to keep on the straight and narrow. Any other seniors out there who also have some health problems that complicate things.

Hello and welcome to MFP. This is the best website ever. I love it here and I think you will too. This website is so helpful, supportive, motivational, and everyone here is so nice and friendly. I just wanted to tell you good luck on your weight loss journey. You can do this. :flowerforyou:

Well, thank you. I think I just sent you a message asking some questions. Looking closer it seems you started Dec 08 so you must be quite familiar with all the aspects of the site. So far I'm working on figuring out the daily logs. The amount of calories the assessment came up with for me is lower than what the diabetes diet counselor recommended as a minimum for nutrition. Can this amount be adjusted or one just works with it as is. Thanks for your encouragement.

Welcome! As a not quite senior citizen, who does deal with some health problems (including type 2 diabetes), I would be happy to try to help you if I can. The answer to the first question I saw is that you may set your own goal. On your home page, go to goals, change goals, custom. I hope this helps, and wish you the best of luck! Mary

    Welcome, Ellen:flowerforyou:
You have come to the right place. Take the time to get to know all the features of MFP. There is a lot of good help here.

Look on the message board under "Fitness and Exercise" for "Seniors Golden Sneakers". There's also a diabetes support thread under "Food and Nutrition" (I think). You can search the message boards for topics.

take it one day at a time
be open minded to new ideas:bigsmile:
    take baby steps
    drink lots of water:drinker: :drinker:

Even if the site suggests a lower calorie intake than your doctor, don't worry about. Just log your food to add up to amount you think is best.

If you work at this, you'll be successful.

Thank you to all who wrote. I did customize my goals. Will look up the senior's and diabetes threads. Into the second day and now that the food database is working I can log.
