I started this Fitness Pal a couple months ago to start to inspire myself to make a difference in my life. I realize counting calories, watching what you eat and exercising are not the only aspects of becoming healthier. Improving oneself is not as simple as weight lifting and avoiding chocolate….its about a complete mental and emotional reboot as well. I can become a complete addict and work out 4 times a day/7 days a week....although that is not the proper way to accomplish my goals. I need to get in shape and stay in shape. The next steps in this progress are going to have to be long term lifestyle changes.

So...
I decided to start a blog. A blog seems to be the most relevant way to chart progress and help others to do the same. The first steps of my progress were to alter my eating habits. I naturally love vegetables and I already eat pretty healthy. I started to actually “digest” what I am eating daily by counting calories. This also helps in meal planning and helps my partner shop for groceries. So to help with my healthy eating, I have eliminated anything in the “junk” category for Lent.

Although as a flex-etarian ( like a vegetarian, but will eat meat), I need ideas on getting more protein into my diet. I eat red meat once or twice a year. I don't mind chicken and I will eat fish and milk products.

Second step, join the gym. Thank you to my special investors, you know who you are. Thank you for making me realize I can be a gym –rat. Last week my first class was Zumba. One of my favorite ways to work out, god I was nervous. I probably sweated more before than after my work out. I think I can really enjoy the work out high. It feels really good to be active again.Monday, I went skiing with my family. What a great way to burn calories!

Wednesday, again another Zumba Class. I love the work out high! I feel sooo pumped after working out. I signed up for orientation classes on Saturday to learn about equipment and properly use weights to achieve fast results. No point of trying and not being successful by myself.

Four pounds lost so far. Not bad.
