  • I think with bad things like sugar or sodium, no. its a 'maximum, but I mean, obviously for nutrients (macro and micro) - you need to be hitting those or rethink how much or WHAT you are eating...improve your calories ;)

a 100 calorie snack pack vs. some broccoli dipped in hummus for 100 calories - still 100 calories, but you'll get vitamins!

In my opinion, you should try and achieve the numbers set to you for Protein, Vitamins and Minerals, and be happy to be under on carbs, fats and sugars if that is happening.

Less is more with sugar and sodium, I try and keep them as low as possible. The only things I try and keep near the number are my fibre and protein.

OMG.... How do you get that low?
I haven't been able to hit my goal let alone be under.

Please pass along any tips! With my family history of diabetes looking for anything that will help me keep sugar in control.

Checked out your profile... see you're living in Cyprus. Ah, the Mediterranean diet, less processed foods and an overall respect for taking time to prepare, relax and enjoy a healthy meal. that's got to be a plus

You don't have to live in Cyprus to avoid processed foods. Go to the market, then go home and cook it yourself.

You wanna hit your vitamin, protein, carb, and fat goals. Sodium and sugar are irrelevant, under or over doesn't really matter as much as long as the total calories and macros are being hit.
