Hi

I seem to be eating well and exercising alot but i just dont seem to be loosing much weight. I put on 4lbs over my birthday and its taken me nearly 3 weeks to lose it! :(
Is weight loss really this slow. Ive been doing this since January and ive lost a stone give or take. Are my expectations just too high and perhaps a little impatient?

Does anyone else feel like this??

Ellie

The fewer pounds you have to lose, the slower it goes (and it should). 14 pounds in two months is not horrible! It's quite good, actually.

I know it's depressing. I have found that this is a very common problem for us ladies in our 40's on up just by reading the blogs and message boards. As long as your clothes are fitting better and your measurements are going down, stay off that scale! It's really not a good tool for weight loss because it discourages so many people. I've quit many a diet because the scale pissed me off.

0.5-2 lbs per week is normal. The less you have to lose the better it is to lose less per week. It helps with maintenance.

I so know how you feel. I've been doing so well but have been stuck at 146 for like the past 3 weeks. Its really frustrating cause i've been doing 30DS for the past 22 days as well. Then last week, despite doing soo well on the diet, i gain 0.5lbs. WTF! I know thats not loads but its still disheartening when you know you deserve a loss.

All i can say is, hang on in there and the hard work will eventualy pay off :)

Maybe you are not eating enough? Are you netting at least 1200 calories? Maybe too much sodium - my weight can fluctuate 2-3 lbs when I am retaining water. That can be really disheartening.Don't let it get you too down - even if the scale is not cooperating the healthy eating and exercise are doing you a world of good!

A calorie is a calorie, but what you eat is actually very important too. And water, plus not high sodium in the diet. The thing you could do is to be sure you are weighing and measuring your food. Try to eat less carbs than the goal, more lean protein, whole grains, less processed foods and take out. Eat in, making your own food from scratch more. Open your diary for people to make suggestions.

One very big thing that holds me back is when I don't eat enough. Ironically I have to eat enough. When I got closer to goal I had to lessen my pound per week goal and eat more. Yes it was slower, but I was stalling out otherwise. Even so, in "reports" of this program you can see that you may have trends in losing, then stalling, then losing again. Mine would go down, waver some, then go down again, then stall. But overall it was going down. Measuring yourself is very important because every month I was losing inches even if I was not losing weight.

Look hard at your diary and see if you are really eating around goal, or a few hundred over every day. I know when I ate to goal for 4 days straight (no cheat days for me) then I'd lose. I like to trick myself and think i'm doing better than I am, but "reports" is honest if you are.

Do a lot of cardio until you get nearer your goal. Once I started a lot of weight training I got a great looking body, but weight stalled. Inches did not stall. There again, take all your measuremets and check them monthly. Do exercise, and do (please do) eat the exercise calories. I have a heart rate monitor and it's the single best thing I spent money on for losing weight. I can cheat through an exercise, but not with my HRM. I can estimate my exercise, but I actually burn enough on a brisk walk to qualify for the slow running category on MFP. So then I confidently eat back my calories burned. Not doing that will also stall my weight loss.

I have friends that try zig-zagging calories, "shocking" their body, "cleanses", low carb. What works?? Keeping on eating clean and getting exercise, and trust the goals on MFP, logging in every day, eat enough, and not stopping (no cheat weeks or cheat days or "breaks" because you are tired of it). Change your work out up every 3 weeks or so. Lots of exercise, long workouts, and rest days, don't matter as much as consistancy in food and getting some cardio.Toning is the icing on the cake.

** What Nammy said ** Eat enough - I don't eat clean but I do watch my portions. You'll get there!
