Happy Rainy Tuesday, everyone. . .
I'm off to the doc in just a few minutes, so just starting.
Today is more yoga (are you surprised?)
Wandering, the one I did was Yoga Journal's "Yoga Practice Show: Evening Sequence". It was all restorative poses, mostly done from the floor. Not a "workout" per se, but it certainly did relax me. I slept like a baby last night.
After the doc today, I'm going to try to morning sequence one, and I'll give you a review. I was actually thinking of you, being on the road and sometimes (I'm assuming here. . .) needing to relax at the end of a slightly stressful (or terrifying) day.:flowerforyou:
Take care, pebbles.:flowerforyou:

Good luck at the Dr, Viv.
Yesterday I was very low on energy. It may have been because I was stuck in meetings almost all day, or because of my allergies. I did go on a very windy walk outside, which was my only exercise for the day, but it definitely didn't help with the allergies. I went through a long series of allergy shots a few years ago, so the main symptoms I still have are unhappy eyes and tiredness - this is a MILLION times better than it was before, but it's still kind of a bummer. So I may be taking it a little bit easier - I think I am going to drop my strength routine for a while and just focus on pushups and cardio. Maybe more yoga.
Goals today:
log food
try not to treat my allergies with food
elliptical
pushups
Have a good day! :flowerforyou:0 -
Howdy!
I have no idea how today is going to go. I will start babysitting about 8:15 until 1-3. And this is 3-4X a week. He's a sweet baby, but he's also walking and getting into things. I'm not too nervous though. It's just going to be weird taking two children places. Guess I should get used to it!
My pastor's wife mentioned that I may be anemic. I was talking to her about how I am tired all the time, and have been for years. But this back pain will not go away either. I was reading the symptoms and I have quite a few of them. I will be getting some iron pills today if I can.
Alex has tumbling this morning. Steve said his tooth seems to be tightening up, thank the Lord! I think Alex will be fine in class as long as he doesn't fall down. He looks better this morning too.
If the weather holds up, I may put the baby in a back pack carrier (yeah that'll help my back) and put Alex in a stroller and go for a walk. I won't be able to go far with carrying 25+ pounds and pushing 40 but it will be something!
Have a good day!

MM - I was anemic when I first became a veggie - I was only 15 so I didn't feel it that much - but if that is it, after a few days with Iron pills, the change will be noticeable. Do you remember how you hurt your back? I remember you thought it was Tae Bo. I know you were doing the sit up challenge - sometimes that can cause issues too. Do you do any back strengtheners? Try doing superman/locust for a week and see if that helps: http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/789 - if you can't pull up both legs and arms at the same time, try doing the right arm and left leg together and then switching sides.
Hope everyone finds some energy today.
The pecan pollen is getting to me a little. Seems like every time I go outside for over an hour, I get a headache. It also aggravates my normal cat allergies:grumble:
Yesterday - 2 walks and yoga. Today gym and hard yoga class.

Warning: vent ahead:
OK, now I'm cranky.
For those of you keeping track, I've had blood screening tests for the following conditions in the past month:
mono. lupus. measles. fifth disease. rheumatoid arthritis. psoriatic arthritis. and other "unnamed things". Today, I'm told that my latest round of preliminary bloodwork raised concerns towards:
type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. :noway:
Seriously? I am upset in the extreme, because I work very, very hard to take care of my body so that I don't develop these things. (they run in my family)
Also, I'm upset because I've gone to the doc once a week for over a month and still no real answers.
Most of all, these are two things I was convinced I could avoid through lifestyle choices, despite the fact that genetics tend me toward them. I feel guilty and angry and frustrated.
I had still MORE blood tests, along with a urine test to confirm suspicions on the blood sugar. He gave me a prescription for a B vitamin supplement that is supposed to help with the high cholesterol. He actually said he wasn't as concerned about that, because my good cholesterol was also high.
But, with all that fat and sugar in it. . .my blood must be delicious.
Vent over, thanks for listening.:flowerforyou:0 -

What??? That should have shown with the first bloodwork. Doesn't make sense. Also doesn't say address why you've been under the weather! I'd be pissed.0 -
Yeah. . .
the theory is that I had some sort of flu/virus bug that sent me to the Dr. originally (indeterminate origin)
Diabetes would explain the extreme fatigue/wonkiness. . .and for the pain I have to go back to "just fibro" and the original flu/virus of indeterminate origin.
I'm just upset. . .also upset because I haven't had the diabetes symptom: "unexplained weight loss."
My theory is that if you have someone with a needle in their arm already, why not run all the tests at once?
Blergh.0 -

Blergh.
Totally agree!
Sorry Viv, that is rough, but hopefully soon enough you will have answers and whatever it is you can work to manage it. Diabetes runs in my family too and it a concern for me as well.0 -
Didn't work out yesterday, it got crazy busy and i knew I'd have a big workout today.
BTW I did my intervals on Sunday on the elliptical and it kicked my butt! I did 10-second flat out, fast as I could go, following by 15 second recovery bursts for 20 minutes, then 20 minutes warm up and recovery. I was sweating like crazy and it felt great!
So, goals:
~ Core class + cardio intervals
~ Log my food
~ Research vitamins (still haven't done this)0 -

WL - your intervals sound tough! I will try that tonight at the gym and see how it goes.0 -
Aw Vivia, I'm sorry about what you are going through! How rough! Have you thought about going to another doctor for a different opinion? I am assuming they have checked your thyroid right? I will keep you in my prayers!
I am babysitting a great little boy, but I still don't like babysitting. The kids come with different rules. I could tell he was tired so I let him cry himself to sleep. Shortly after that the mom called and said he's never cried himself to sleep. He just doesn't cry...ever. Uh, he was fussing in the car. Maybe he just doesn't like me. She said I can just lay a pillow on the floor and he will go lay down himself. Okay, I've never known a kid to do that. Especially not in someone else's house. Oi. It didn't hurt him to cry. He's asleep isn't he?Now I just feel like I am in trouble with the parents.
That was my vent. I think I am going to try to go for a walk after Alex gets up from his nap. I will need to walk off the stress.
V, We're here for you! Vent any time.

So, if anyone ever gives you a prescription for Niacin and tells you it will make you "a little flushed". Here's what they mean:
About 30 minutes of severe histamine release that looks and feels like the craziest sunburn ever. You will also, most likely, feel that your death is eminent and that you are actually on fire. (I recited lines from Ricky Bobby about "the invisible fire.") Also, your extremities will puff up big time. You will call the pharmacist and she will assure you that your body will adjust in about two weeks, and that you can take an aspirin about 30 minutes prior to the next dose.
Wow, just another reminder that "all natural" does not mean "mild". I need a nap.
Sorry, I'm very "talky" today.0 -
I got a short walk in. I am really thinking maybe I am anemic. I have no energy. It wore me out to walk 1.5 miles. I need to go get some iron and try it out.
I noticed that when I run up the stairs in shorts my thighs slap each other (never did that before) and say, "Pardon me." "No, excuse me." It's bad.

If I may quote Paula Poundstone - "my thighs would be lost without each other":laugh:0
