So, I finally lost weight but now today I am feeling terrible (headache, cramps) and I just want to munch and definatly do not feel like working out. I don't want to ruin any progress I made but I just don't have any motivation or strength today. Any words of advice?!

get up, go and do it! I promise you will fell better when your done.

I say this because I felt the same this morning, add to that a bit of stress/depression from other stuff. Finally got to the gym at about 2pm....I feel much, much better now, attitude and all
  • You've worked too hard too hard to let low motivation sway you. Everything you've done up to this point means so much more. You aren't feeling great, there's nothing wrong with an off day and looking after yourself, you don't have to deny yourself things just allow yourself to take a rest day. One teeny tiny day cannot overwhelm every other decision you've made before today.

Hope you feel better soon, just focus on giving yourself a break and the rest will take of itself.

Have a nice bubble bath, light a candle, dim lights, put on some good tunes. You might clear your mind enough to "start something" else and not think of "food". If you can't brush off the feeling, nibble on some popcorn! Feel better!

I just had my left knee scraped out to buy me alittle more time to finish this weightloss before I have 2 total knee replacements... I am going to be laid up for 2 weeks before my doctor will let me back in the gym (YMCA) to continue my quest to lose the rest of this weight.. I would give ANYTHING right now to be able to go workout and its only day 2 (surgery was yesterday) So do me a favor get up and go work out for the both of us... All you have to do is get there and get started. The endorphins will kick in and you will be so glad you went..... Just Do It!!!!! :-)

Thanks ladies! Sometimes I just need reinforcement that it is ok to have an off day, that I don't have to be perfect 24/7. I have LOW self esteem so if i'm not kicking my own butt for some reason or the other I feel like i'm slacking and just not worth it. Validation is nice. :)

I read some advice a few weeks ago that really worked for me when I hit that point. The suggestion is to tell yourself you will do something light for 10 minutes. Don't try to do a regular or full workout. If after 10 minutes you want to call it, go ahead. Chances are after you get started, you will find it in you to keep going. Maybe not your usual workout, but something is better than nothing.

    Good luck!

I was thinking maybe a little weight training would be good for a day like today, nothing heavy but some spot toning and after I do that if I feel like a little cardio than great. Thanks for the advice!
  • I don't believe you'll ever hear anyone say, "I wish I hadn't gone to the gym today", short of an injury. The absolute hardest part about working out for me and I'm guessing you too, is just getting there. Lace up, get there, make it happen.

    You can do it!
