I have cellulite on my stomach. I am hoping that it will go.

Will it???

  • It should go once you lose the weight and begin to tone your body

Not on its own. You have to work hard to make it go. I have a "vegan" friend who is a ballerina. She eats nothing but Dorritos, Top Ramen and diet soda. She's tall and rail thin, but all cellulite. Cellulite is where we women store our toxins. We really need to work hard to break it down and flush it out.

Cellulite is just fat like any other.
  • Drink lots and lots of water it will definitely help flush it away!

When I lost weight before I got pregnant my cellulite did go away. The lower your body fat the better it gets. I'm not sure if it is a genetic thing?

Really, It's just fat. It's just fat stored close to the surface of the skin. Lower your BF% and the cellulite will go. Drinking water etc makes no more difference than it does to normal fat removal.

I think you can make it look smoother but I'm not sure if it all will go away. From what I hear it's genetic. I have it on the back of my thighs and always have even when I was at my thinnest. Thanks Mom!!! lol

It doesn't go away completely, but it does become less noticeable as you lose weight.

But it does go away completely if you lower your BF. I had cellulite on my thighs and arms when I was 150 lbs, I don't now at 123 lbs and 20% BF. It really does go away. When you see thin people with it, it's because they still have a relatively high body fat %. OR they have had liposuction somewhere else and don't have many places left to store their fat (I'm thinking celeb cellulite pictures here).

cellulite IS genetic (even at very fat I had zero to little of it) but its also probably combatable by dropping to very low bodyfat but that does NOT mean by dropping WEIGHT, it means dropping FAT and keeping your muscle as much as possible. If you are 30% bodyfat now and you lose 50 lbs but still are 30% bodyfat you'll still have cellulite.

My understanding is that cellulite is when the fat is pushing against your skin so hard that it dimples around the connective tissue that holds your skin to your muscle (This may be BS as I don't know where I heard it) so in theory the closer you bring your skin to your muscle the less visible it will be.

but if you have a really abnormally squishy area - like I knew a girl in good shape but wiht a big butt that had cellulite on it even though I'd say besides her butt she was in the low 20s BF% - you might have to get to a lot lower BF than other people in order to lose it completely. Whereas genetically blessed people like me might not have even a smidgeon of it at 25% BF.

    Agreed with the two above.

I had cellulite on my legs. I have lowered body fat and maintained as much muscle as I could and mine is gone.

One thing I have always wondered about is how come babies seem to have it. They have little dimply bottoms and legs, and then it all disappears .........

I had it, started training for a marathon, dropped a ton of weight and it went away. Maybe it was just less visible, but I couldn't see it. Then I gained a whole bunch of weight and it came back, but only in my butt and thighs. Not on my stomach or my arms.
