I would put money on stress being your issue if you've been tested and don't have any physical issues. It took my husband and I two and a half years to get pregnant and then I miscarried at 17 weeks. I am currently pregnant again and hoping that the healthy changes I made with MFP will help. I very highly recommend a book called "Making Babies: A 3 Month Program for Maximum Fertility" by Sami S. David and Jill Blakeway. It helped me develop a plan and made me stress less about the fertility situation. It only took 2 months to get pregnant with the help of the book, and I feel like changing my diet to coincide with my fertility type helped me lose weight faster and easier.
I wish you the very best in your baby quest. Lots of baby dust to you.0 -
Over 3 years, 2 surgeries and 4 miscarriages before I got pregnant with my daughter and stayed pregnant for the entire term. Don't lose hope.0

6 years!
Thank you, that gives me hope0 -
I won't be much help because mine were unplanned. But I just wanted to say that it took my mom & dad 7 years & 4 miscarriages before they had me. So I guess just don't lose hope.
oh thank you for sharing that, it makes me feel like theres still a chance0 -
Are you tracking your cycle? It took 2 1/2 years to get preggers with my first. I was taking clomid and eventually had to have an IUI. All this was done by my regular gy/obn, I didn't have to go to a specialist. My second happened on the first try with no extra help. I was told I had "undetermined infertility" issues.
no but only cause mine are so iragerler its almost impossible to get some kind of rym or reason0 -
Yes! been pregnant twice with no thanks to the NHS. we've been trying for 13 years. it is possible!!
This gives me a lot of hope, thank you0 -
first ---> 2 years
second ---> 1 time in the sack
third ---> 2 1/2 years and In Vitro Fertilization.0 -
It took a year and a half for my first child and since I was older, my doctor didn't make us wait to start tracking things and testing stuff. Hubby had "slow motility" but lots of the little buggers and I had one completely clogged tube. They did a procedure where they blew dye through my tubes and *bang* next cycle I got pregnant. Second son-first time out of the gate! Good luck, it's stressful and every time a friend tells you their news you want to have a little pity party for yourself.
I never feel sad when some one I know gets pregnant, but what really gets to me is when I miss my tom and get moody and feel like im sick I will get a prebnancy test and for years it always tells me NO0 -
My mom had me after about 10 years of trying. She gave up, thinking she would never have a baby and at almost 40 years old her miracle baby came!
As for me, haven't been trying per say, but haven't been trying to stop it from happening either since we got married 3 years ago and nothing... again not that we are trying just yet.. but scared about when we do try.0 -
My 9 month old is what I call a "pill baby". I was on BC when I found out we were expecting. Do not lose hope, a cousin of mines tried for about 6 years, now she has a beautiful and healthy 3 month old baby.0

Apparently none of the guys I date are fertile :laugh: I should've had my 2nd child years ago
However I did have my first at 14 and it only took one time :grumble:0 -
About 17 1/2 years...
Or however long it took for his sperm to make its way to my egg. Is that something that happens in a matter of seconds, or moments, or a day?0 -

"What was the longest it took you to get pregnant?" .......Lets see, it took me two minutes.
haha, just kidding. I don't have kids.
Sorry I don't have any advice. I just wanted to reply with the "two minute" answer. :-P0 -
Took about a year... We had fertility testing. As a result, I had fibroids removed in July..got pregnant naturally by March. The FDr wasn't sure if the position of my fibroids was blocking the sperm; but it was important enough for me to have surgery to remove them just in case. I am glad I did. I have a 3 year old darling baby girl!0

I thought this was interesting when I read about it the other day.0 -
It took um days with all 4 of mine one of mine first time we......well you know lol But I know being over weight really really screws up your hormones so the more weight you loose the better. And once you have lost some of the weight stop trying to have a baby and just have fun with it the more fun you have the more you will do it and surprisingly it will probably just happen. That is what happened with me and my friends we stopped trying and just enjoyed it!!! Good luck and feel free to message me if you would like I am a great listener!0

It took my sister 5 years to get pregnant the first time and 4 years later, she had her second child. From what I remember, she told me that the doctors didn't really have an explanation for the difficulty conceiving. (She was 34 for her first).
Best of luck to you. I'm not sure if your health insurance covers a nutritionist, but if you would like to get pregnant, at least consider talking to one. Or at least make sure you get the recommended amount of folate for women who want to become pregnant.0 -
7 years and some drugs. I ended up taking something that stopped my whole cycle to reboot it and then added clomid.
Talk to your doctor and consider seeing a GYN that specializes in infertility. I felt like I lost a lot of time with a doctor who was very comfortable doing nothing.
If you want to know what the drug was send me a message and I will look for my old paperwork tomorrow0 -
I would recommend charting your basal body temperature to find out whether you are ovulating at all - if you're irregular, there's a good chance you aren't, or at least aren't ovulating when you think you might be. The book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" is a good place to learn about charting temps and other fertility signs. I used the charting software over at FertilityFriend.com and learned a ton about my body and how it works. Getting healthy and knowing your body is a great place to start! It took me 6 months to get pregnant with my first, and 3 months with my second, but I have plenty of friends who have waited 5 years or longer. Infertility sucks. Hang in there.0
