Time vs Distance when Biking

This may be a silly question, but I'd like a little more information on it if anyone can help out.
When riding a stationary bike for exercise, what is best to keep track of... your time or your distance?
I noticed that when you log in your exercise on the site, they let you put in time and calories.
In the past, I always kept track of the calories burned and the distance I 'biked'. Is that not correct?

its more about how long you work out for and how hard you did it
you can bike for 10 miles really slowly, or do those 10 miles fast.
its about intensity and length of time you stayed there.
target heart rate and all you know.0
