Please help me in a simplified way. I know this subject has been repeatedly commented on but I would like an answer that a newbie can get. I am trying to lose weight. I guess about 70 total by the time I am done. I quit drinking and fast food. I exercise 6 days a week..all Cardio for now. I burn anywheres between 350-800 Cal. working out. My Calories have been around 1200 and I haven't been eating them back. My food intake is public[I think]. Question...I see everyone says eat back your calories fro exercise. If I start now eating maybe 1/2 of my calories back, will I gain weight back..that would be so depressing. I do know that I probabaly consume more calories than I figure, but not many, that's why I don't want to eat all my exercise cal. back. I wouldn't mind eating more, but with my exercise and diet will I continue to lose? I am rather impatient as far as this whole thing goes ,even though it is a life change, giving up the drink and fast food has been a big change and I really need the weight loss steady to keep me on track. Thanks

MFP calculates your calories to eat if you don't work out. Other diets don't do it that way. Other diets assume you will work out. That's why this confuses people. This program is different in that it assumes you will not work out, therefore, your calories are set for you to lose without ever working out. So, when you do work out, you need to eat back those calories so you don't lose weight too fast. It's more healthy to lose weight at a slow and steady rate rather than dumping tons of weight fast.
I hope that explains it.0 -
Thanks, I guess I am just afraid if I up my calories now that I will gain back.0

Not everyone is the same. It totally works for me. But, I'm not on a lose weight thing as much as I'm just trying to be healthy. I'm actually happy where I am or a little above. I just gave myself a stretch goal to see if I can hit 170. It's more of a game than really needing to lose weight.
But, you could try it for a week or two and see what happens.0 -
