Hello MFP's,
It's my 40th birthday later this year, and I'm undecided as to what to do to celebrate. Any of you have any fab idea's or did anything special for your 40th's? Thanks all

What do you like to do? Are you married? Kids? who do you want involved? How much money do you want to spend? I spent my 40th moving into my house (love my house but wouldn't recommend that!). Working on my next milestone birthday and I want to do a Mediterranean cruise!0

Yes, i'm married with 3 young boys. I was thinking maybe go away with hubby somewhere, then I thought maybe a party with friends (minus the kids this time). Neither of which are particularly original I know. Thought some MFP's may be able to inspire...0

I plan to do something I haven't done yet when I turn 40. If I haven't done these things by then, I might do one of these things.
Hot air balloon ride with your husband
Helicopter ride
Sky Diving
Whitewater rafting
Weekend Sailing School0 -
Whitewater rafting is amazing! And one of my goals is hot air balloon ride, so both of those are awesome ideas. Also maybe a historic hotel stay or a quaint bed and breakfast for you and the DH!0

if you have a bucket list, find the most exciting thing and do it
if you dont have a bucket list, write one, then find the most exciting thing and do it
its what I did at 400 -
I'm all about travel so I'd pick someplace you've always wanted to go and go with just you and your husband-if it's new to you it's original! I agree with the bucket list idea too. That's how we plan most of our vacations!0

Thanks all. I'm liking the sound of a hot air balloon ride, might look into that some more. Appreciate all your comments :bigsmile:0

Get under the covers and don't come out until you are 40 years + 1 day. Then forget about birthdays.0

My hubby's 40th is next year, but I'm thinking ahead! Long weekend in Vegas? Something more low-key - weekend at a Bed & Breakfast a couple hours away from home? We did that a couple years ago - we had a great time!0

I started training for my 1st marathon on my 40th0

Plan something fun for yourself. I had planned on being in great shape and going to a beach. Reality...I had a two week old baby and the next day I woke up and needed glasses! LOL!! I don't know what happens when you turn 40 but the eye site seems to go down hill!! Six years later, I still haven't made it to that beach and I am still trying to get in shape. Maybe for my 50th.....0

40 is an excellent age to learn about the apostrophe and its uses. Of course, 30 years ago would have been ideal but as they say, "It's better late than never"0

There has been a tradition with my husband and I for many years now. I really don't care about presents/flowers/chocolates so instead, we create "memories". My husband always takes the day off from work and plans a mini vaca for us. So far its been stuff like six flags, on my 30th birthday we went up in a sigh seeing airplane over the coat followed by a romantic dinner by the waves, We have gone hiking and sightseeing at our state park, whale watching cruises,...all kinds of things. I love the ocean so its usually centered around that.
I highly suggest celebrating birthdays this way because honestly, who remembers what kind of present they got 10 years ago? I don't, but I do remember the day we spent together.
Saying that, this is a milestone in your life and its pretty important you do something you have always wanted to do. Life is short. If you don't have one already, I would make a bucket list and pick something off that0 -
Run a 5k, find one on your birthday!0
