Having trouble logging home made foods

Have not been logging my foods lately because I am making so much home made, I am still staying on track and losing weight, but not as much fun when I don't get to see results on computer screen. Been too busy to log and create meals to get calorie count. For example for lunch I took canned tuna fish mixed with herbs and Greek yogurt and rolled up into a whole grain wrap with fresh veggies, I know tortilla was only 110 calories. So sometimes I feel like if I am sure it was under 225 I sometimes do quick add calories. Any tips for when you cook at home for almost every meal?

Log each ingredient separately, then when you are done, click "Tools" and save it as a recipe. Then when you make it again, you can add it from your "My Recipes" tab. If you make a few things fairly regularly, you really only have to take the time to log it once.

click on FOOD above, then click on RECIPES. Enter the ingredients and # servings, and it will calculate the nutrition info. After you save it, put your mouse on it and to the right you can click 'ADD TO DIARY". In the future, you can always find it.

Hint: put your initials first, then when you search it, yours will come up instead of someone else's. I use "LL homemade", for example "LL homemade tuna casserole".

    blessings.

That's what I've started doing too - I cook most meals from scratch, so I've started entering all the recipes so they're saved in my recipe box - makes it easier for next time.

Yeah, add it as a recipe. I love having my recipes there so I can get ideas for good healthy meals.

you don't have to search it, just click recipes, click on add to diary, adjust the number of servings you ate and choose which meal to add it to and it automatically adds it to your food diary for that day.

Yep, using My Recipes and My Meals is the only way to go. After using them a few times, you'll see. Easy as pie!

I agree, add stuff that you will make regularly as a recipe, or just put the ingredients in individually. I eat clean and EVERYTHING we make is homemade....once you have a good "base" of ingredients it really doesn't take that much time to enter your food. I log every day, everything I eat and I spend very little time logging my food every day....now, time spent on the boards and kudos and responses to friends, that's antoher story...lol

I save stuff as either a Recipe or I log it all once and do "Remember Meal". Once you get things built up and you have all the most common things you eat as Recipes or a My Meal logging only takes a couple seconds and a couple clicks.

I find it easier (especially on the phone) to just put in "LL tuna" or whatever when I'm adding foods. One less step when multi-adding foods to a meal.

I sometimes just add estimated quick calories too when I'm busy. After you cook/prepare the food and clean up, sometimes it's easier to just enter calories. Have you used the "remember meal" feature on the counter page? That button will let you copy a meal to another day and once you get it there you can adjust it, add or subtract items. That helps me because we also cook at home and then eat those left overs for a couple more meals. Also finding similar foods in the index to approximate your calories. Good Luck!

I like to add the recipes. It's amazing how much something like a tablespoon of oil can change the whole count.
