Help me figure out eating!

I started this journey very slowly about 2 years ago, and have had pretty good success taking it one day at a time. Last June, I decided that I wanted to accelerate my weight loss while toning up, so I hired a personal trainer. Once I got in the habit of seeing him 3x a week, I started going to the gym every morning, 6x a week.

The working out thing, I have a handle on. I do at least an hour of cardio a day, with strength training 3x a week. I am much more active, I'm toning up and feeling so good. If you could "out train a bad diet", I would be thin as a rail by now.

The problem is...you can't.

I started in June at 301, and weighed in today at 279. On one hand, I am very proud to have lost the majority of that weight by working out, but on the other hand, I am incredibly sad and frustrated that I could be doing SO much better if I could just wrap my head around the eating part.

I drink lots of water, I eat at least 5 fruits/veggies a day, and some weeks, I amaze even myself with my choices and logging (not recently though). However, I can undo an entire weeks worth of good choices in just a few days...and I do. I wake up every morning with good intentions...but unfortunately, that won't get the weight off by itself either.

Any help or advice is appreciated. All it took to get the "working out" part firmly implanted in my head was reading the motivational line "I am a gladiator, the gym is my arena". I am hoping to hear something from someone in regards to eating that will click in my head and kick my a**.

Thank you for reading and being a part of MFP!
