Eat more to lose weight, please explain

There are so many posts here that tell people to eat more to lose weight as they are not eating enough to lose weight.

How on earth does this happen?

Looking at it from a mathematical point of view there should be a graph of weight loss v's calories difference.

If you are on a very low calorie diet and not losing weight the line is flat, from the suggestions eating more will make you lose weight, does this make the line suddenly jump up to your maximum rate of weight loss at a golden value for calorie difference or does your weight loss rate creep up as you start to eat more.

If you are not losing weight because you are not eating enough, purely from a weight point of view, what will happen if you eat even less will you put on weight or will your weight stay the same regardless of how low you go.

I know from personal experience that eating more does not always give you more weight loss as I put on weight by eating more.

    The EAT MORE is aimed at people eating less than their BMR.

    Eating between BMR and TDEE will result in weight loss.

    Eating over TDEE will result in weight gain.

    i believe everybody is different and what works for one wont necessarily work for another but here is my experience..
    I started MFP at the beginning of the year on 1200 cals per day, i would exercise to make up my calories basially so i could eat more, my exercise consists of walking with a pushchair and the odd bit of swimming so nothing excessive. I lost well doing this but 3 weeks ago decided to go a bit easier on myself and changed my settings to 1 pound a week thus giving me 1540 cals per day. Having changed nothing else other than eating a bit more I have found im losing more now than i did to start with, i dont really get it either but it is working for me!
