Logging P90X workouts

Hi,
I'm quite new here, so maybe this has been answered before .... I'm currently doing P90X and am wondering how best to log the workouts. Do I break them down into individual exercises and sets and pick something from the database that's close, or do I log an entire workout as either weighlifting or say, kickboxing (Kempo)??? How are you other P90x people logging these workouts?

are you using an HRM? I just logged the DVD I did with my HRM calorie burn under cardio. I found that to be the easiest.

You can create the exercises and if you have a HRM you can log the amount you burn with each. This is what I do.
I am not sure what would be similar in the database.0 -
The problem with logging calories form a HRM is that they are so often incorrect. I JUST finished the 45 minutes cardio DVD and my HRM said I burned 80 calories. For the plyo it said I burned 120 in the entire hour. I only trust my HRM to say my heart rate, not my calories.0

I logged by the database first and it was way off. I just created a workout for each routine and plug in the calories from my heart rate monitor.0

There is something wrong with your monitor for sure. Did you set it up properly for your age, weight and sex?0 -
Yes. I just tripled checked my step distance and everything. It's a piece of junk if you ask me.0

No heart rate monitor. I always just check the old fashioned way...taking my pulse for 10 seconds and multiplying by 6. It's on my wish list, but I haven't spent the money on one yet. Any suggestions on what brand to buy?0

I had one like that too. It was just a watch one, and it went right back to the store. The ones with chest straps give continuous readings and are much much more accurate.0 -
I have a Polar FT7 that has a chest strap and I think it is pretty accurate. Maybe the one you have is not working right?0
