Question about maintaining while recovering from surgery

So here is my dilema...
I am having surgery in 2 days....
I don't want to gain weight while in recovery... Ya know, forced to be sedentary.
I just went and set my calories to maintanace with sedentary.

Do you think this is the best thing to do??? It puts me at 1840 which is easy to not eat over, especially when not working out...
AND to those on maintance... has this worked to eat and not gain at this level??

My only issue is that I am a bored eater... so I am planning on keeping low cal snacks around like apples, carrots, air popped popcorn, turkey jerkey, etc... so I can grab those things when I feel bored (I KNOW, I should just get over the bad habit... but alas, those are hard to break aren't they??!!)
