I started trying to lose weight on01st ?Jan 2012 when I weighed around 15st (210lbs). By the end of Jan I weighed 14st 7lbs (203 lbs), which I was slighted gutted with because I was expecting more so rather than just watching what I ate I started the gym and classes. Throughout Feb I did 2 1hour classes a week (tue and wedn) and a 5mile run and 2 1 hour classes on a sunday; my end weight for Feb was 14st 3lbs (199 lbs) only 11lbs in 2 months of what I think is working my butt of considering I have two children under 4, a partner who works nights (making the gym at night almost impossible) and I work full time also.

So I was wondering how much haveyou lost thus far, how long did it take you and what have you done to lose it? I kind of hope that someone somewhere will be in the same boat as me making me feel slightly better about myself!

I have my usually 3 hour gym session coming up this afternoon so fingers crossed tomorrow scales will show me some progress.

since jan 1st, ive lost 10.4 pounds. not sure about inches because i havent measured for this month yet, but at the 6 week point i had lost about 20 inches overall (neck, arms, thighs, waist, hips, chest, calves). i lift weights 3x/week, and do cardio 2x for a total of 3.5 hours per week of exercise, and never more than an hour at a time.
i have two kids as well (5 and almost 6) so im a bit active with them - i walk to 6 year old to and from school but dont count it as exrecise. also walks to the park i dont count.
  • it seems to me like you have unrealistic expectations for this journey.. ive only lost 15lbs since august last year.. my weight loss has been very slow because im making a point of learning everything i can and finding what works for me so i can maintain a healthy lifestyle.

im not judging you at all.. i just know that when i worjwd my butt of for 2 months at a time.. and lost weight.. i wasnt able to maintain it and picked it all up again..

i think you've donw great so far.. id be so stoked with your loss in such a short time.. but my advice to you.. is enjoy the changes you make.. and if you're not.. ypu need to re-evaluate as it may be something you cant maintain..

good luck with your journey and really really.. GREAT JOB on your loss so far :)

1-2 lbs. a week loss is good healthy pace for most people. 11 lbs. in 2 months = out to a litlle over 1 lb. a week and that is a good pace!

people lack patience, get disocuraged and give up. don't.

Ive lost 7lb this year so far and i am happy with that. As long as it's going in the right direction you'll get there.

You've lost 11lb in two months, i think that's pretty good, well done

You sound like me. I started at 210lbs and got serious to started this journey on Dec 10 so far i've lost 12 lbs. I would have hoped it would come off faster but it's reality. It takes time to lose the weight. Same changes, small habits week to week. I do a lot of cardio each week also. My suggesting is to make some smaller goals to work towards. I have a 10lb weight loss by Easter group and it works over 8 weeks. this small goal setting has helped me. i also have a current goal is to increase my water intake to 6 glasses per day.

Are you eating your exercise calories? do they net to 1200 calories? Slow and steady we didn't gain this weight overnight so it's healthy to lose it slowly. Just think if we lost it very fast we would have excess baggy droopy skin all over our body but losing it slowly the skin has time to shrink with us.

I've been only working out 4 times a week (about 35-45mins each time).. I go to school full-time, play in 2 different bands (one concert band, one big band) and I work 3-4 graveyard shifts a week on top of everything. I know what it can be like to try and fit in workouts when busy!

    I've dropped about 20 pounds since Jan 4th, 2012 (15 of those since I joined MFP mid-Jan 2012)

Feel free to add me! I keep a pretty detailed record of my workouts on my exercise log & a shortened version on my profile page and I've definently learned quite a bit since I joined... Don't give up though! At least you're losing some weight =)

I've always been around 10st (140lbs) 10st 7lbs the most, until I started having children. After having my first little girl I gained 7st, that was June 2008 and when I got pregnant on my second, Jan 2011, I weighed 12st 7lbs so I managed 5st loss in 2 and half years; was kind of hoping for the same result this time around but its just coming off slower.

Since 1st of Jan I have lost 14lbs.

The first 11lbs were in January, lost very little in February as I had a back injury and was also plateau-ing.

The only exercise I'm able to do (two kids, partner works 15 hour days) are the 30 day shred and Zumba on the wii. Sometimes wii fit, but it's very boring.

So I stick to my cals as much as possible (1200) and am hoping for a better month this month.
