I didn't know where else to put this, so since I'm looking for help/advice I decided to go with here.

To those of you who have jobs that keep you on your feet all day (if that's any of you) how long does it take for your feet to toughen up?

I've had my new job at a Vet Clinic as a Veterinary Assistant for two weeks now and my feet are still killing me and it's setting me back on my workout schedule. I need advice or just reassurance that it will get better.

Please and Thank you!

Do you have proper shoes? I've done jobs like that and the shoes make a huge difference.

Yeah, I've been wondering if I should invest in some new shoes. I have a pair of Reebok's that I've had for a few months now. When I get my first pay check I'll stop by the shoe store and get some Dr. Scholls or other such brand that's for nurses and other people who are on their feet all day.

Definitely make sure you have good shoes. I wear the exact same type of shoes in the shop as I do when I'm running. It's a lot of money for shoes that will inevitably get destroyed by paint, grease, welding burns, ect. However, after almost 12 years of working standing on concrete anywhere between 40 and 100+ hours a week, my feet thank me. Yours will too. Even try some gel inserts if you need to. Enjoy your new job! :)

Sanitas and Danskos fixed my chronic leg and foot pain. I walk and stand on concrete 9-10 hours a day. They take some getting used to, and are not soft. I needed support, not pillows.
