Welcome to MFP!!! This site is really life changing and it sounds like you are ready to change your life. That's 1/2 the battle right there.

I am also so sorry to hear about your sister. :brokenheart:

You will find so many great message topics out here and there is always someone who is right there with you on your journey ... many many someones!!!

My mom just started a little over a week ago and has already lost 8lbs as well ... I didn't have that kind of kick start myself but patience, time and the will to do it is all you need and you will get there before you know it.
