When to go on Maintanence? I have about 20lbs left to lose

It has been said by many people that your body gets accustomed to living on less food(your deficit you put in place from MFP) and your metabolism slows down equaling out your caloric intake. To rev your metabolism back up you should start eating more. I know some people that solely eat there maintenance cals and rely on caloric burns from workouts for their weight loss. I am asking at what point do you decide to do that(body fat percentage or weight percentage to goa?)
I have about 20lbs left to lose but have noticed over the last few weeks that my burns from basic day to day is less then it was say a month ago.

My rough rule of thumb... 500 cal/day deficit until there are about 10 or less lbs to lose. At that point go to a 250 cal/day deficit. How do you do the "accounting" (MFP settings) is up to you as long as your deficit is sane and reasonable.
FWIW, a few weeks ago, I put my MFP on maintenance and just eat 250-500 calories below it, taking the deficit "manually" as it were.
P.S., this thread is going to confuse the crap out of people. Advanced mathematics like addition and subtraction is hard. :laugh:0 -
Taso I been set to maintenance for a while just like you but I also would just manually deduct from my maint cals, I was leaving a 1000 deficit on workout days and 500-600 on non workout days but I noticed that this last week I didnt budge at all.
Last night I ate all my workout cals back and then I went over by lets say 400-500cals. Today I woke up to a 1lb loss.0 -

Don't be mean. I aced calculus & grad school stats, but the basics obviously still elude me based on my stinkin scale. :Sits back to learn a thing or two:0 -

Stats isn't math. it's manipulating numbers. could be where your trouble lies... :laugh:0 -
perso. I would suggest going to maintenance for one month. Doing a metabolism reset and also taking a mental break. I have been doing this for the last 15-16 months and it is the only way to not burn out.0

This worked for me as well. December I took a break from logging foods and just ate how I felt I needed to. Resulted in a nice loss after being stalled. And very good for my sanity as well.0
