Been advised to eat 1800+

A few days ago I posted about my weight-loss slowing down, and discovering my BMR is 1520cal/day, and I was only eating 1200cal/day. I was advised by another MFP member to up my intake to 1800cal/day.
I'm afraid I'm going to gain everything I lost - has anyone else done this with successful results? I don't want to undo all my hard work!
Also, with the "guided weightloss" goal function it tells me that I won't lose any weight if I go over 1700cal/day. I understand MFP is just a program that fiddles with numbers (e.g not human, doesn't take everything into account) but I do find myself trusting what it says...
P.S I'm 5'7", 160lbs, female. Seeking to be 145-140lbs.

If you have only been eating 1200 a day you should increase your calories gradually. Add ~ 200 for a week or two see how that goes and add more until you reach 1800 or until you are satisfied. There isn't a magic number that can be given to everyone. Try self experimentation by adding calories slowly.0
