I am considering starting Weight Watchers online but I want to hear from people who have tried it. Does it work? how is easy it to use when you have a family, are the meals planned for one person or can I find recipes that are family friendly? what are your grocery price's like? we really live on a tight budget so I buy lean ground beef chicken on the bone ( I cut it off and de-skin it when we eat) and we buy pork chops on a regular basis. Are those ok or does it require you to purchase ground turkey...and more pricier items? Any help is appreciated!

IMO, you will pay for the same thing you can get here for free. Instead of counting calories, you will count points. You can find tons of weight watchers recipes online for free, and can search their site for recipes. You plan the meals. You decide what to eat, and when to eat. There are no required foods on Weight Watchers. I have done their program, and lost a good chunk of weight with them. Lots of people have long term success with them, I was not one of them for a variety of reasons (All my own issues)
However, if money is tight, stick to this site for counting calories and monitoring exercise.0 -
I agree. You can eat whatever you want at WW as long as you stay within your points limits, just as you can eat whatever you want on MFP as long as you stay within your calorie budget. I think counting calories just cuts out a lot of extra math! I used the online version for awhile, then went to meetings. You get out of it whatever effort you put into it. If you are on a tight budget, just use this site and save the sign up fee, the weekly/monthly fee, and the cost of materials.0

Thanks! I guess I never thought of this site like that! I mean I know I use it to count my calories and add my workouts, I am a dork! I think I was just hoping for something that will tell me stop eating that! lmao not that I eat a ton of junk, but I am at a plateau so I feel like I am doing something wrong.0

I was a Weight Watcher until I was booted off when I became anemic.
Here is a truth you may need to hear : only you can tell yourself what to eat or not to eat. Nothing else, no one else, no website, no program can do that for you.
Weight watchers works, MFP works, many things work when You choose to work them. If you need personal accountability choose something that you will be accountable to, whatever version that will be.0 -
Have been on and off WW for a long time. Am still on the WW threads, but for support in other areas besides weight loss. I got so obsessed with the points that I had to quit and find another alternative. MFP is great, and instead of points, you can actually see your calories and other nutrition information when you track. As one above me stated, you can still eat all the different variety of foods, as long as you manage your calories, exercise, etc. and MFP is free!!! Personally, I would stay here and get the encouragement and support. Take care.0

I did WW Online since 2003. When I first joined I lost 50 lbs in 6 months and I kept it off for several years but they kept changing the program and how they calculated things and I eventually stopped logging on. I put a lot of the wt back on and every time I tried to use the new programs on WW I was not successful. Thinking back it seems like an extra step to convert calories to points and pay for that every month when I can do everything I need here for free. The people on this site are helpful and informative so I would say stay here and be persistent and you will do fine.0

I have done weight watchers online but honestly I like this program better. For me it is the same theory but you are counting calories instead of points and it is free! It has alot of the same features it adds points for activity and has a food data base. I have done alot of diets and no matter how you do it the ideal is the same to burn more calories than you are taking in to loose weight. Weight Watchers is a great program and works but I would recommend going to the meetings if you were going to do it. I think you will find the online version is not much different than what you are doing now. I think everyone is different and you just have to find which one works for you the best. :flowerforyou:0
