question for SAHMs

What do you have your activity level set to?

I'm not sure if I should be set to light active or active.

If you're set to 'active', do you log things such as cleaning, or is that assumed to be part of an active lifestyle. Or do you only log actual "exercise"?

i was set at lightly active when i was following MFPS guidelines - i only logged actual exercise, no walks to school/the park, no cleaning... only heavy yard work.
now ive set my own calorie goal as my BMR, so i just ignore MFPs activity levels

I also have my goal set to my bmr and only log extra exercise (Dvds, walking, running, treadmill) I don't log cleaning and I also use a hrm for my workouts so I get a more accurate number of calories burned. I don't eat my exercise calories back unless I burned more than 600 ill eat the overage or if I had a bad day I'm glad those calories burned are an option :) Hope that helps.

  • I have mine set at not at all active! I don't log housework, only my actual put on my running shoes exercise. And I eat it all back! Sometimes I will log grocery shopping since it takes me a few hours of walking, or I will log when we walk to the park, but not usually anything else. I view those earned housework calories as a buffer for when I don't measure my portion of dinner or not measuring my Olive Oil when cooking. Not sure if that's good, but I'm still losing so I'm sticking with it for now!

I have my activity level set for light activity. I hardly sit down (unless I'm lucky enough to get online for a couple minutes here or there or when I sit to have lunch).

The only activity I log as exercise is when I actually work out. I don't log housework or jumping on the trampoline with the kids or stuff like that.
