I am thinking of getting something that tracks what you burn does anyone have suggestions? I've seen like the fitbit ... opinions?
I don't really need a program but it would be nice if I had something that I could wear that would tell me whatever I'm dong what I burn.... Something simple would be great...

Thanks :)

I read almost every topic on HRM (heart rate monitor) that I could find in the message board search here, and the overwhelming response was Polar Heart Rate Monitor. I've had mine for 3 weeks and I can not tell you enough how much of a motivator it is when you are excercising. I feel like I am getting more accurate calorie in vs excercise calories burned and have lost 7lbs since I started using it. I was in a 3 week rut of not losing. I went with the polar F4 with chest strap I found on Amazon for $65. Its very comfortable and user friendly. If you click on search in the message boards and type in HRM it will show you links to this very topic to get you more ideas of what works for others. Best of Luck!!
  • My treadmill tells me how many fat calories I burn. Wish this program had a place to also add that to the exercises. Only has a place for calories.

Thanks for the tips. I just want something simple that I can exercise or go out and do whatever with and know what I burned. I'll look into the suggestion posted :)

    Thanks.

If you are trying to log your daily calories burned in total, don't buy a Heart Rate Monitor (such as the Polar ones). They are to be used for sustained exercise only.

Look into BodyBugg, or something similar that is designed to track your total daily energy expenditure. (TDEE)

I researched high and low on the boards.

The consensus is Polar Heart Rate Monitors.

I ordered the FT4 from bodytronics.com and also used promo code popo and came to slightly less than $60 with free shipping.

The fitbit can give you insight on how active you are. A HRM can give you an accurate accounting of the calories you burn during exercise. HRMs are not meant to be worn 24/7. I have both, and together they give me a pretty good idea of how active I am, and how many calories I burn. The fitbit even tells me about how well I sleep (how often I move around at night). I'm very happy with both!

I have a heart rate monitor and I love it. It really helps me keep up with my intake and calories burned.
