Why I love this site.

I love that this site is like Facebook--yet I'm SO relieved it's nothing of the sort. I love that people can post achievements and victories, and everyone is here because they care. Yet Facebook, we feel the need to show up, and basically think "How lame it is....." (Facebook is like sugar, but that's an entirely different post...) Instead of seeking attention, it's nice to see people who genuinely want to spread motivation. It's rather refreshing...this might be really cheesy and pointless, but I know none of you are going to care ha :)

For sure, I would never dream of posting any of this on FB, just not worth all the crap I'd catch for IMPROVING myself. Nice post.

Agreed. Everyone is on the same page here, and very supportive. Best thing I've found in a long time.

You are one quirky girl. Okay, just kidding. I agree with you, it seems a little like facebook but better. Even my kids noticed that it seems similar.
  • I noticed that too. In general, most people are much more positive and encouraging on here. I love it!

I would never post that I'm trying to lose weight on Facebook. I'd get so many people either telling me I don't need to or having a go at me for wanting to get into shape.
I definitely prefer mfp over facebook! :)

It definitely helps to have a place where I can be proud about losing weight and working out eat week and know that people won't get sick of hearing about it or make me feel bad. I know that I will always get encouragement and support (and some occasional constructive criticism) from my friends on here. Definitely not something you find on facebook! This is a very supportive community, all focused on the same thing- bettering ourselves.

I like this site way better than facebook. I couldn't post a great deal of what I am going through on facebook simply because people would judge me on how I'm losing weight and also I have several family members who are P90X coaches or similar. One uncle even owns a gym. So putting up that I'm trying to lose weight is like putting blood in the water!

MFP is my new facebook :) but my friends on facebook know I am trying to lose weight, too and they cheer me on... but really I only use it for family that lives 3000 miles away.

I like this site a lot more than Facebook too. I haven't really posted on there that I am trying to lose weight. But, the people that do know are supporting me and say encouraging things. The main reason why I like Facebook is because I have friends and family all over the United States. It is my way of keeping in touch with all of them.

I like to have a place to talk fitness and healthy eating. A lot of my FB friends see a girl in size 2 pants trying to lose weight and tell me I don't need to do anything. Sure, I'm a size 2. I'm not really trying to lose weight, I'm trying to lose BODY FAT. I'm trying to build muscle. My dad died of a heart attack last week. He was only 64, He didn't get to see me graduate from university. I'm setting up a lifestyle, so that doesn't become me in 40 years.

I love Facebook, but I don't talk about the things that happen here over there. This is for us, for a community of folks getting healthier, and I prefer to keep that just among us. The other folks will see the results....we deal with our process here, where I know we do support each other.
