So I just completed week 3 of c25k. Here is a little background into my weight loss history:

March 2010- decided to clean up my diet and exercise. Started walking 3 miles a day, 5 days a week. Lost 10lbs a month like clockwork. Had a 2 deaths in the family and other "life" issues and took some time off. Kept up the good eating just didn't work out as much. Lost a total of 50lbs.

March 2011- Down 50lbs. Went on a cruise and moved across the country. Gained 20lbs over the rest of the year :(

January 2012- decided enough is enough and I'm going to lose the rest of my weight this year. I need to lose 50-55lbs. Started my 3 mile a day walking mid Jan and lost about 6lbs in 2 weeks.

The 2nd week of Feb I started the c25k program and decided I need to take a break from the scale. I told myself I wouldn't weight until March 1st. I weighed 192.4 on Feb 1st. C25k was going great and I feel great. Weighed myself on the 1st and I've only lost 1lb!!!! I have lost 8.75 inches but why is my weight staying practically the same!?!?! I'm so used to losing at around 10lbs a month! Help.

PS: I'm eating exactly the same as I did when I lost that 6lbs in Jan. I'm 5'6" and weigh 191.2. My goal weight is 135-140.

The inch loss proves you're shedding fat and that's the most important thing, well done!

Weight loss slows the closer you get to your goal weight, so you only get the 10lb a week loss right at the beginning. It's normal to slow to 1 or 0.5lb a week.

When you start any new exercise, water rushes to your muscles to help repair damage and replenish the stored nutrients you've burned. You'll find this gets back to normal as you get used to it and you'll start steadily losing weight again. Stick with it!

could you be building muscle and losing fat, therefore getting slimmer but having denser muscle mass

What's your overall success measurement - weight or size? 2 people of the same height, can weigh the same, but be up to 4 clothes sizes different.....

More than likely you need to eat more. Eating fuels the body and in turn will metabolize.

Edited to add, I just peeked at your diary, you are either not logging enough or starving yourself. You are not helping your bdoy if you are not eating to your calorie goal and when you exercise you need to eat more.

Congrats on the 8.75 inch loss...that's pretty great. Using the tape measure is the best way to see your actual progress...there are so many things that factor into your weight that it's not indicative of success.
