SODIUM OVERLOAD

Everyday I log my food. I hardly ever eat all of my calories but I am always over my sodium (and I mean by 500 - 1000!). I'm not sure why I even worry about it because I don't have problems with my blood pressure. It's been hard enough giving up the food I love. I just hope now I don't have to give up even more of it. Does anyone know if Sodium can effect weight loss in any way other than water retention?

I'm pretty sure sodium prevents weight loss by causing your body to retain water. I've also read you can bust through a plateau by reducing your sodium intake to under 2000 mg a day.

So in short, yes, it can and probably does hinder weight loss.

If you track your potassium and make sure it is higher than your sodium you should not have water retention.
