Should I count them in fruits and veggies? Most are calorie negative

calorie negative is a example of poor math.

lets say you burn 1700 calories no matter what.... aka your BMR.
well it doesnt matter if you have a steak, or a apple in there, it takes calories to digest it.

you dont subtract calories from the steak, even though its harder to digest... dont assume the veggies make it negative either.

    so, yea, count it.
and ignore the negative calorie concept.

    ^^ What he said.

No such thing as calorie negative. The numbers MyFitnessPal gives you include daily activity which includes everything from getting out of bed to brushing your teeth to chewing and digesting and so forth. (and depending on activity level, this can also include your job, etc.)

If you put "lose 1 pound a week" MFP takes the calories you would need to maintain and subtracts 500 per day so that each week you're at -3500(7x500) which is the rough estimate of what a pound of fat weighs.

Bottom line, count everything and eat all your calories to lose healthily and steadily.

Yes you count them. Also. calories burned are not accurate on a heart rate monitor nor on this website and how you burn calories differs each day. Calories burned are dependent on: sex, age, %body fat to muscle, type of calories you are consuming and from what sources and when you are consuming them, what type of exercise and daily activity, and BMR.

If you want to succeed, use this as a lifestyle change and not a diet.

By tracking calories, you learn portion control and if you monitor carbs, proteins and fat, you learn to eat a balanced diet. If you monitor sodium, you learn eating processed food and eating out is a killer :-).

When guessing calories, I guess the most and for burning calories, I use my HRM, but I don't eat back calories because I am here to lose weight, not to maintain or gain.

    GOOD LUCK!
