maintaining

I know I'm probably going to get a load of people telling me this is a stupid question as I obviously had no problem eating loads before
but I just wanted to know how to eat enough to maintain without turning to junk? I'm on a really tight budget and really don't even have that much food in the house! Part of the problem is my partner still eats unhealthy and we have to compromise on what we get. I rarely have meat in my diet as its to expensive and all my veg is frozen so was just looking for ideas really.

eating healthy while on a budget is a daily thing for me......but I have to also add in 3 active teenagers. right now I am in the lose weight mode...got 40 more lbs to go. one thing i see my nutritionist advise is more lean proteins and more vegetables. also watching the sugar intake which includes certain fruits. so breakfast oatmeal (the quick oats you scoop out not packets) w/skim and a handful of blueberries (less than 1/2 cup) for me fills up, or have egg omelet w/low fat cheese sprinkle, again filling but inexpensive....have a snack, then lunch like tuna (careful on the mayo, i now use less than teasp low fat olive oil mayo) and i add spinach on low carb wrap or low carb bread slice. snack, then dinner is a lean protein with lots of veggies.
what goes a long way -- ground turkey and you make your taco seasoning (has no sugar) and you have less fat. my kids are used to that now....so while they may want taco I usually make it a taco salad....can do the same thing with chicken.
we do eat a lot of chicken as it is cheaper....but i buy ground turkey on sale. i just can't get the other meats as they are too pricey. another thing i do is frozen fish - i get the boneless, salmon fillets or even tilapia (no sauces on them) and i season myself.
frozen veggies - I buy w/o the sauces and those I tend to have with dinner and I stick to basics - broccoli, peas, green beans. no corn (starch)
i just found cookbook through sparkpeople -- love it, same good foods just a little healthier version0
