While I was on the treadmill today my heart rate rose to 200.. I had only been on for about 15min and was going at a brisk pace, I had the speed set to 3.7 with no incline. Is this bad? I couldn't imagine it would be normal! I wasn't even going all that fast at all...

How do you know your HR was 200? How was it measured?

I'm not being snarky, just curious because 200 is too high and I doubt that count unless you had an arrythmia. In the case of the later, you probably would've felt dizzy or at least nauseated. I'm thinking it was a misread/glitch of the machine or your HRM.
  • Yeah the treadmill had one of those handgrips that monitors your heart rate as you work out. It would vary from 160-200 but 200 sounded a little crazy to me.. Like not very healthy or good..

Oops, I responded by editing my original post, sorry for the confusion. I'm sure the machine was wrong.
  • I agree... probably the machine was screwing up. When I'm really pushing my aerobic workouts, my HRM shows around 165 and I'm huffing and puffing. I couldn't imagine how I would be if it was getting close to 200.
