Vitatops= Amazing!!

Okay, so I was really skeptical about Vitatops because they seemed too good to be true! But finally my curiosity got the best of me and I ordered a pack of chocolate ones and they came in the mail today...

OMG DELICIOUS!!! :love: :love: :love:

Seriously after I tried one I felt like I had eaten something WAY more than 100 calories. It was awesome. So so so delicious!! I can see myself eating them for breakfast... and snack... and dessert...:blushing:

I guess my whole point to posting was just to let everyone know that Vitatops are amazing... that's all :laugh:

    What are vitatops? I assume they have vitamins in them? I've never heard of them...

    Vitatops are muffin tops but they are loaded with vitamins and only 100 calories! They're a pretty decent size too... you can check them out at http://www.vitalicious.com/ (Haha I sound like an advertisement or something) But seriously, I'm really impressed with them, and they make brownies/muffins so I'm excited to try those too!

    I ordered some of the double-chocolate muffin tops a few days ago...I can't wait to try them! I keep hearing how good they are! :)

    How many ingredients are in them? And how many can you not pronounce? Are they vegetarian friendly? :smile:

    They don't seem as bad as I would have expected. Here's the ingredients from the Deep Chocolate VitaTops:

    Deep Chocolate VitaTops (12 Muffin Tops)
    Water, whole wheat flour, organic evaporated cane juice, egg whites, chocolate chips (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin added as an emulsifier and vanilla), cocoa (processed with alkali), soy fiber, erythritol, inulin, dried honey, wheat gluten, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, potassium bicarbonate),fruitrim (grapejuice, brown rice syrup), tricalcium phosphate, natural flavor, sea salt, xanthan gum, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, folic acid, iron, biotin, zinc. CONTAINS EGG, SOY, WHEAT

    I wouldn't say they are particularly good for you, but they're not nearly as damaging as a lot of similar treats.

    Yeah they're not "clean" or anything, but compared to the 500-600 calorie muffin I'd eat otherwise... I think they're great!

    We talk a lot on this site about clean eating - and I agree, the closer we can get to the "ground" the better we are in ensuring that we are getting healthful and nutritionaly complete foods - but bear in mind that until we are all reverting back to farm fresh, we still eat pre-prepared foods and demand quality, freshness and safety from those foods.

    With that in mind, not everything that we can't pronounce in the ingredient line is to be feared. There is a great website that explains some of this http://www.faia.org.uk/inthemix.php and just as an FYI here is some of the above ingredient line demystified a bit....

    I'm not saying to ignore simpler healthy foods - I just want to control the insanity and in this internet age encourage folks to go out and research their ingredient lines to truly make intelligent choices about what we are putting into our bodies. Some of it is good/bad and just plain ugly!!

    Alkali is actually the compound Potassium Carbonate; it mellows the bitterness in chocolate and is not unhealthy.

    Inulin is a form of fermentable fiber called an oligosaccharide which helps create a friendly environment for helpful bacteria in the digestive tract.

    Lecithin. Lecithin in an emulsifier made from soybeans and eggs, and may contain soybean proteins. Reactions to soy lecithin are rare, even in soy-allergic people, since the level of this additive is usually very low in most foods.

    Potassium bicarbonate is used to prevent or to treat a potassium deficiency

    tricalcium phosphate, used medically as an antacid or calcium supplement.

    xanthan gum is a microbial polysaccharide derived from the bacterium Xanthomonas campestris.
