Transitioning to maintenance mode

Well, it's about time to transition to maint. mode! (only 1.5 more pounds to go) For those already there, was it as simple as just upping the calorie intake or was there an awkward period of up and down to find the right numbers? I would think that your body will try to pack some weight back on since you just lost a bunch.... so think it it might need to be a gradual (2-4 week) process of getting up to the right number of calories.
Just looking for any feedback and heads up on issues any of you may have had in that transition.
Thanks,
keith

yes, me too .. I think if we stick to the calories we have been doing for a week, then week by week add slightly to them ,., I think that keeping track of everything must still be done to avoid getting back into bad habits, especially for me
Well done to all of us for reaching and good luck to us all to maintain0 -
It's definitely a gradual process, more like 4-8 weeks to find the correct maintenance calories. If you haven't already done so, change your weight loss goal to lose 0.5 lbs. per week. It's best to SLOWLY increase your calories.
You can change them manually by going to My Home>>Goals>>Change Goals>>Custom. Just overtype the calorie number shown. You can see your deficit on the right hand side of the screen. Save your changes. Whenever you make changes stick with it for at least 3 weeks before making further adjustments.0 -
Go to "Groups" and join the Maintenance group. Introduce yourself and become part of that very supportive community.
Maintenance is.....well, almost harder than losing. Don't want to discourage anyone but that's been my experience. Been maintaining for a year and learn new things every day. My weight started to creep up to the maximum of my acceptable range so I started logging food and exercise to get it under control. MFP will be a part of my life forever! But that's okay, I'm making some great friends on this site!
Congratulation on reaching your goal and good luck. Look forward to seeing you on the Maintenance group forum!0
