Runner's Knee?

So, I think I may have a very super mild case of runner's knee. Basically its like a dull discomfort right around my knee. The only reason I don't think I would have it is because the classic test of holding your kneecap in place and then flexing your leg doesn't cause me any pain whatsoever, and if I have it I should run.

Could it just be that my knees are slow getting used to this running thing?

Getting your quads and hamstrings strong help with the condition, (for some it's chronic- chondromalacia). Talk to your doctor about using knee straps that stabilize the patella or other braces if it's really painful for you.
I've been a runner with the chronic condition. Six months ago I had an accident that had me nearly bed ridden for months and now trying to run again....you have to learn to walk before you can run. I tried to go back out, run 3-4 miles again and had to start all over, forgetting that my legs need to be strong before I can run much.
    Good luck.

Yeah, for now I'm working on just making sure to stretch my quads, calves, and hammies before I go out and when I come back in. Its not really painful, its just enough of a discomfort that I occasionally notice it. I'm also going to give yoga a shot, supposedly that helps. Like I said, I don't know if it is in fact runner's knee though, since usually if you flex your quads while holding your patella in place it should cause you pain, which it doesn't for me. Weird bodies!
