UK - low fat ricotta cheese anyone?

Does anyone know if you can buy very low fat ricotta cheese anywhere in the UK? I have loads of recipes I want to try that are from the US and contain it but I can't source it anywhere. If not, would extra light cream cheese work as well? Or any other ideas?

I got some from Tesco once... (but they also used to do Passionfruit sorbet which disappeared) x

ricotta is only about 4-10% fat.

Ricotta is a curd cheese, as an alternative you could try blended low fat cottage cheese.

I have not yet been able to find low fat ricotta ANYWHERE in the UK. I made a lasagne recently and substituted low fat cottage cheese mixed with some low fat soft cheese (melted, and then mixed in). it sounds weird, but it worked. If you want to make it smoother you could probably blend it but I didn't find that necessary for the lasagne.
  • 2 quarts milk, either skim or whole
1/4 cup lemon juice (1/4 cup lemon juice if omitting the cream)
    # Put milk into a pot and slowly bring to a temperature just below the boil.
    # Stir from time to time. The milk will start to foam and sweat.
    # Remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice.
    # You should notice the tiny particles of white protein starting to coagulate.
    # Let sit for an hour or two.
    # Pour into a colander lined with fine cheesecloth and placed over a pot.
    # Allow to drain.
    # When cool tie the four corner of the cheesecloth into a knot and hang to drain for a few hours.
