Are you All or Nothing?

So took a look at my goals and haven't really been hitting the mark. I keep it simple, for both exercise and healthy eating I attempt to reach my goal 80% of the time. For example: In a thirty day month I have the opportunity to go to the gym 26 times (I never go on Sundays). If I go 21 out of 26 days, that's 80% of the time. For exercise, in January I had 77% success, in February I had 72% success. For healthy eating: in January I had 31% success, in February 26% (yea, I wasn't happy with those numbers).

I had a friend comment that if I aim only for 80% of my goals, then I am giving myself permission to cheat & fail. Also, instead of saying I'm doing all these goals less that 100% of the time, then I really am just dieting rather than aiming for a healthy lifestyle.

My point to her was that no one is perfect. Its a rare individual who is 100% on point all the time. Considering that I exercised and ate healthy probably about .5% of the time in my "previous life", 80% is pretty phenomenal and a realistic goal. To me, this way if I have a cookie or a french fry, I haven't "blown" anything - its just a part of my life.

What do you think? Am I setting my bar to low? What do you expect of yourself???

    I always try to succeed.

but if I fail... for whatever reason.. it doesn't matter if I failed yesterday, I just refuse to fail today.

that applies to a lot more then sticking to a diet too... its that whole, "if at first you dont succeed, try try again." thing.
