best sneakers for treadmills?

What's a good sneaker for treadmill running?

I use 3 pairs. 2 are too wide. My narrow one (nike 360) is heavy..gives nice support (compared to the other two) but makes a lot of thumping noise when my feet hit the treadmill. My shins have been hurting lately. Any suggestions appreciated!

I just need a new pair of sneakers period. Good for walking/jogging with good support. I currently have the New Balance Womens CW442. They are cute and simple to wear with jeans, but not anything for working out in. Suggestions? I'd like something that comes in black so they don't get dirty too easily.

I just did some research. Anyone wear the Saucony ProGrid Mirage or Brooks Bare Connect? They seem to be lighter sneakers with minimal arches.
