Carrots... How many is too many??

Hey everyone... I have been trying to do some research on the internet about carrots and have read that having too many is not a good thing. However, they don't tell you how many is too many. I have recently started juicing and am not sure how many carrots I should be allowed without overdoing it. I can easily put 2 carrots in anything I juice for an easy 6 carrots a day. Is this too much?

Vitamin A is one vitamin you don't want to get too much of.....Google "Vitamin A overdose" or "Vitamin A maximum" then figure out just exactly how much you are getting. Too much of anything isn't good, but I know Vit A is one to be careful with.0

You would need 3000micrograms(μg) per day to overdose on Vitamin A. 100g carrots contain appoximately 835 μg. You'd need to eat a lot of carrots to get 3000μg.0

Based on all the information I've read, I don't believe you can over-do it unless you have diabetes--carrot juice is very sweet. It's my understanding that there is no such thing as a toxic dose of carrot juice. While it is true that it is possible to 'overdose' on vitamin A, it is impossible to overdose on pro-vitamin A--the precursor to vitamin A that is found in abundance in carrot juice.
I have a friend who drinks 64 oz of carrot juice a day as part of an active vegan lifestyle. Funny thing was no one cared when he drank 8-12 cans of diet coke a day, but heaven forbid he drink carrot juice 8 times a day. I am currently trying to juice carrots in the morning and drink 8 oz at a time over the course of my morning. He told me that you should drink 8 oz/hour at a time. Something to do with absorbing the nutrients most effectively.
Good luck with whatever you decide!0 -
I have heard how too much of anything is a good thing... But it's amazing how people really think that about when it comes to getting in their fruits and veggies. I'm not obsessive with it, I just want to get what I need... I think it's funny on what you said about your friends Diet Coke drinking and nobody said anything. Lol. I'm juicing several fruits and veggies at one time and 2 carrots is apart of it each time. Thank you and good luck with yours as well.
Thank you all for your input.I appreciate the feedback.

I knew of someone once who suffered from Cancer and heard that carrots had great cancer fighting properties.
He started munching on them almost constantly and his skin turned orange!

I think that is only true for vitamin supplements. Naturally occurring vitamin A is good for you and while it may be possible to overdose, it would be very hard. You could eat a whole bag of carrots and it wouldn't hurt you. One cup of cooked greens such as kale and collards can contain several times the minimum RDA of vitamin A but they are one of the healthiest foods you can eat.
Also, carrots do not contain much sugar. They have a high glycemic index because the sugar in them is absorbed quickly, but the glycemic load is low because there is so little of the sugar.0
