My yard is terrible for growing anything, but I'm gonna try to grow tomatoes using one of those 'Topsy Turvy' growers! :drinker:

When I was in high school, I created a garden....and did everything right....until I fertilized it....and I fed it TOO much! Plants started out so nicely and then shriveled and died!

    Been traumatized since! :frown:

Me + Miracle Grow = Shriveled plants! :grumble:

I have the ultimate plant death story.

Moved into our little 2 bedroom starter house in 1987 (still there BTW:wink: ) There wasn't a blade of grass in front or back. We didnt have much money, and 3 kids under five years old, so couldn't sod it like the neighbors.

So I bought a sack of seeds and some milorganite. Each day as the children were napping, I lovingly pulled the weeds on a 2 or 3 square foot patch, sprinkled the fertilizer, and spread some seed. Watering in completed the days task.

It took 3-4 months, but finally I had a nice,if not perfect, front lawn. Neighbors came over to pat me on the back and tell me how they appreciated all my hard work.

I was on top of the world with my accomplishment.

Then I returned home one day to find my husband 'watering' the grass. In his hand was one of those Miracle Grow containers attached to the hose. It was full when I bought it the day before.............at this moment it was empty!!!!!

Dh smiles and says " I fertilized the yard for you honey!!" So proud was he!

Well by the end of the week every freaking blade of grass was DEAD. Dead I tell ya.

Yes, we are still married-but things have never been the same since that day:angry:

It took 3 months for that grass to grow back in, and 3 months for DH to have supper on the table or clean clothes in the closet:laugh:
