I was originally searching the net for a way to keep track of my mom's diet...she was recently diagnosed with a fatty liver - cirrhosis, whatever they want to call it...I guess it runs in the family.
Well, she needs to restrict her protein and sodium intake now... So I typed in "food diary" and I found MFP.
It looks pretty easy to use and thought, why not? I need to loose at least 50lbs myself. :drinker: I used to party pretty hard in my younger days. Now that I know cirrhosis can happen to me, I'm very scared!
I just hope I can also help my mom out in the process.
If anyone reads this and has some low sodium recipes or can tell me how to get cooking in a healthy way, I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks MFP!

Welcome!! Glad you found us - there are lots of good recipes on the recipe board. I think most of them have the nutritionals - or have been entered in the database so you can look them up. There are some great recipe analysers online too that you can enter what you're making and it will give you the nutritionals, including the sodium. Best of luck on your journey - I hope your mom gets better too! :flowerforyou:
Edit to add: http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php?process=resubmit&count=8
That is the recipe analyser that I like the best out of the 3 I've tried!0 -
